The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Debuts at La Auto Show
Shaver Chrysler Dodge Jeep® & RAM loves when the LA Auto Show comes to town, because that means we have so much more to look forward to and to share with customers at our Thousand Oaks, CA car dealership. But nothing captured our attention more than the brand-new Jeep coming to the market later next year – the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, a midsize pickup truck that will be carving its own niche in the truck world with the same grit that Jeep has been known for all its life.
With a name like Gladiator, this pickup is echoing its ancestors. The original Jeep Gladiator was run from 1963-1971, and we’re going to see a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. That’s going to pump out an impressive 285 horsepower with an attention-grabbing 260 lb-ft of torque, but those who go for the turbocharged EcoDiesel that will be available in 2020 is going to get 260 horsepower but an astonishing 442 lb-ft of torque. And while the specs haven’t been released yet, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is set to come out, and there’s a plug-in hybrid set to be released in 2020 as well.
The Jeep Gladiator comes with a full 5-foot steel bed that can carry a payload of 1,600 pounds, and it can also tow up to 7,650 pounds. There’s also a class 4 hitch and both two- and four-inch receivers to ensure that you can attach your trailers with ease. Like any Jeep, it comes with superior off-roading capability right off the line, with either a Command-Trac or Rock-Trac 4×4 systems to conquer the elements and 33-inch off-road tires.
