The Chrysler Portal: the Minivan from the Future

November 9th, 2018 by

Chrysler leads the pack when it comes to the burgeoning electric minivan market. Not to be outdone, they’ve been working on a fully-electric minivan set to hit the markets in 2020. They call it the Chrysler Portal, and it’s anything but traditional–being created by millennials, for millennials. When the time comes, you can be sure that Shaver Auto will be providing it as an option as we step into the future of auto-making. Of course, if the Portal isn’t your cup of tea, there’s always the class-leading MPG king, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

When you take one look at the Portal, you realize there’s little to associate it with the traditional minivan. Bright and versatile lighting features both sides of the vehicle demonstrate when the doors are opened, when they close, and aid as additional indicators while changing lanes. The roof of the vehicle itself is almost all glass, with the only things blocking views of the sky being the strong roof crossbeams. The interior of the Portal is also completely unique – a cockpit-like steering wheel and dashboard that spans the entire width of the dash provides a one-of-a-kind driving experience, with a sleek-looking infotainment touchscreen aided by a single knob.

The seating is completely reconfigurable, which is to be expected from a company that has been masters of the minivan since the 1980s, with the center row and the passenger side front row seats being track-mounted, sliding forwards and backwards to accommodate any variety of cargo and passenger combinations. However, none of that has stopped the minivan from getting an estimated 250+ miles on a single charge.

The future is now, and if you want to test drive an all-new 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid for yourself, visit our local Chrysler dealership and see where the future is taking you.
